HERE’S WHAT’S NEW IN REUSE THIS MONTH:

Essential Oil Blends to get Silverfish, Moths & Mosquitos to bug off

Biome EO has created essential oil blends that specifically target and help repel silverfish, moths, and mosquitos. Made in Australia from pure essential oils, Bug Off Mozzies, Bug Off Silverfish, and Bug Off Moths, they are a new natural bug repellent option.

They can be used in diffusers, added to a banksia scent pod or put on sachets in places where needed (out of reach from pets and children!).

reusable bulk bags Voted #1

The Strategist, the shopping guide arm of New York Magazine, has voted Life Without Plastic’s Organic Cotton Flat-Bottom Bulk Bag as the number one reusable bulk bag, saying they are “thoughtfully designed” with their flat, round bottom that stays open while you fill them and are “sturdy enough that they won’t fall closed and cause you to get beans or flour all over everything while you do so”.

The bags were also praised for the large size’s two layers, which ensure it can hold fine food products, the seam being on the outside so particles don’t get stuck there, and the bags’ tare weight being printed on the front of the bag so it can easily be deducted from the total price of your items.

The first reuse analytics platform

The first reuse analytics platform to help food service companies shift from single-use to reuse has been launched by Upstream after it discovered that many food service providers want to shift away from single use, but are concerned about costs.

Chart Reuse™ is a software platform that helps restaurants and food service businesses of all sizes understand both the environmental and cost-savings impacts of ditching disposables for reusables.

Home compostable dog poo bags

Certified compostable for both commercial and home compost bins, Beco Pets compostable dog poop bags are made from natural plant-based resins. These compostable doggie bags are certified compostable by OK Compost TUV Home S0329, ASTM 6400 and EN13432.

Home composting of dog poo is possible – but first research how to neutralise it with sawdust and kill harmful bacteria! Or, check with your local composting facility to see if they accept pet waste, or if your local dog park has a dog waste collection bin that states it will be commercially composted.
