Hi! We’re Vicky and David, two South Africans living in Melbourne, Australia.

We have always been conscious of our impact on the environment and have always done the minimum, turning the tap off while brushing our teeth and soaping ourselves up in the shower, recycling religiously, and switching off lights when leaving a room.

But, we realised this wasn’t enough. We felt we needed to do more. After one fateful Netflix documentary (Cowspiracy), we became vegetarian for the sake of saving the earth.

That was over a year ago, but it still wasn’t enough.

After another fateful Netflix documentary (A Plastic Ocean), we knew we needed to go plastic free. It clicked into place that recycling our waste isn’t enough, we shouldn’t be contributing to the generation of waste in the first place. It is so easy to chuck your garbage into a recycling bin and forget about it, feeling like you have done the right thing.

But, that waste doesn’t disappear, especially plastic.

We have since become passionate about figuring out how we can become waste free and how we can help others reduce their waste.

Enter this blog!

We are by no means experts and are having epiphanies on how we can do better daily, but we want to share our wins, no matter how small, and be inspired by others’ ideas and achievements.

Because, yes, every little bit makes a difference!

Because, together, we can make a big difference.

Because, sometimes, we all need a little encouragement and a big pat on the back for caring among the indifference and trying despite discouragement.

I hope you’ll join us in doing what we can to minimise our waste and our impact on the environment and become part of the reusable nation. We’d love to have you along for the ride!
