HERE’S WHAT’S NEW IN REUSE THIS MONTH:

  • Reusable Menstrual Discs

Another option for a zero waste period, reusable menstrual discs are similar to menstrual cups, but they do not use suction or create a seal, resting behind the pubic bone instead.

They are ideal for those with bladder sensitivities, a weak pelvic floor or a low or high cervix, or those who have trouble keeping menstrual cups inserted. It is FDA registered and compliant.

  • New Plastic Free, Compostable Cellulose Sponges

Made from cellulose, Bower’s compostable eco sponges are thin when purchased, but expand into a thick sponge once wet with water. Unlike most sponges bought from the supermarket, these are free from plastic and last well, and can be placed in your compost bin to naturally biodegrade once they reach their end of life.

40% discount on its Kitchen Sink Starter Kit until 31 Oct]

  • ETHIQUE Solid Deodorant Stick

ETHIQUE has added a solid deodorant stick to its range of sustainable beauty products. It comes without baking soda or aluminium or any waste, only a cardboard tube that can be composted when the deodorant is finished.

An interesting ingredient in this zero waste natural deodorant is bamboo, which is included to absorption sweat and sebum, as it absorbs 200% of its own weight in sweat and oil!

  • Large Rectangular Stainless Steel Storage Containers You Can Bake In

We love products that have multiple uses! Life Without Plastic’s large rectangular stainless steel storage containers can be used to freeze food prep meals, take a large serving of food to a gathering, and to store leftovers in the fridge, as well as to heat up or even bake food in.

They come in 3.8 L (1 gal) and 7.8 L (1.7 gal) and are airtight, with four clamps keeping the top on tight.

  • The Most Sustainable Omega 3?

Marketed as “the most sustainable omega 3 nourishment on the planet”, Örlö Nutrition’s (US) range of vegan omega 3 is not made from fish oil, but from algae, and its cultivation process is carbon negative.

Sold in a reusable refillable glass bottle or refill pouches, which are made from post-consumer recycled plastics, and shipped in paper materials made from post-consumer waste, it is one of the sustainable supplement options we recommend.

  • Candle & Plant Pot in One

Another more than one use product we are loving - a candle that is also a planter! After using Hyggelight’s gorgeous vegan soy wax candles, the ceramic container they come in is turned into a pot plant by planting the candles’ seed paper label in some soil in the container.
